FontanaArte illuminates the residences of Venissa

The colorful buildings of Burano, the traditional homes of local fishermen, have been transformed into a ‘hotel diffuso’, the Venissa Wine Resort, dedicated to those who wish to experience the Venetian lagoon at its most authentic.

The hospitality complex was created on the island of Mazzorbo on the initiative of the Bisol family, who converted the Venissa agricultural estate into a place of rest and relaxation, bringing the ancient Dorona vineyard back to life and opening the main house, which now hosts the guest rooms of the Wine Resort.

The decentralized residences of Burano were created by restructuring a number of the island’s typical colored homes, working with local artisans and 10 of the finest companies in the Triveneto area, coordinated by the Milan-based architectural studio Baukuh.

The restyling focused on valorizing the more traditional aspects of life in the lagoon (still today, local residents practice not only fishing but the art of lacemaking, which has made Burano famous around the world), and on offering guests the comfort and quality of a first-class hotel.

The residences are conceived as autonomous suites, and all the lighting is designed by FontanaArte.

Far from the bustle of mass tourism, Venissa Wine Resort encompasses the best of ‘Made in Italy’, enabling guests to discover the beauty and traditions of Venezia Nativa, a little corner of paradise set in one of the most visited UNESCO sites in the world: the Venetian lagoon.
