Koura Pendant Light by David Trubridge
Kōura by David Trubridge is a droplet-like form, which mimics the curled form of native New Zealand marine species Kōura (named by the indigenous Māori people). The fixture is made from sustainable bamboo and is also inspired by the intricately made traps used by early Māori to trap or store food.
In the ingenious Koura design, identical component pieces are CNC cut from flat plywood, which when assembled are gently bent to create a teardrop shape. The negative space is a series of beautiful diamonds that cast dramatic shadow patterns. Shadows can be enhanced or diminished via lamping and proximity to surfaces.
